Titolo: Navigare nell’Italia bizantina. Un catalogo online per la conoscenza e la valorizzazione di un patrimonio artistico sommerso

Obiettivo primario del progetto è la realizzazione di un database online in cui saranno catalogati gli oggetti bizantini conservati in Italia compresi nei limiti cronologici del Millenio bizantino (330-1453 d.C.). Questo corpus generale – sinora mancante – permetterà di ricostruire un fenomeno di circolazione artistica mediterranea che ha determinato nei secoli la trasmissione di cultura e modelli visuali tra Oriente e Occidente.
In base a una ricognizione preliminare, le opere ammontano a oltre 1500 e rientrano in un’ampia varietà di tecniche: dalla pittura su tavola alla scultura in marmo e legno, dall’intaglio in avorio, osso e steatite all’oreficeria e alla ceramica, dal tessuto alla miniatura, includendo affreschi e mosaici parietali e pavimentali staccati.
Il database sarà collegato a una mappa interattiva e avrà una fruibilità pubblica sui siti MiBACT e AISB. Esso è concepito come un sistema aperto, implementabile in futuro con nuove acquisizioni.
Oltre al database, sono previsti altri due prodotti: un workshop istituzionale; un volume storico-critico a stampa.
