Educational Path
The main disciplines can be divided into four groups:
Core subjects include the two curriculum foreign languages (three exams for the first language, three exams for the second language); the two related literatures (three exams for the literature of the first language, two exams for the literature of the second); philology related to the first foreign language.
The languages included in the study plan are: Arabic language and literature; Chinese language and literature; French language and translation; English language and translation; Portuguese language and translation; Russian language and translation; Spanish language and translation; German language and translation. Each of these languages is paired with the respective literature: French literature; English literature; Portuguese literature; Russian literature; Spanish literature and German literature. For the Arabic language and literature, disciplines such as History and Culture of Islamic Countries and Arabic Dialectology are provided; for the Chinese language and literature, Languages and Literatures of Southeast Asia and Histories and Cultures of East Asia. The student can also include as an elective exam the philology of the second foreign language.
Basic subjects include general linguistics; Italian literature; an elective exam between medieval history, modern history, history of European integration, and contemporary European history; an elective exam between language teaching, sociolinguistics, Italian linguistics, and media semiotics.
Thanks to related subjects, a total of eight courses included in a second-year box, the student can customize their study plan in a direction of historical-cultural, linguistic, philosophical, and geographical ambit. The student will find indications regarding the choice of exams in [note 1].
Among the elective subjects (two in total, planned for the second and third year), it is finally possible to select two courses from those offered for any three-year degree course of any department of the University. The list of recommended exams serves an orientation and guidance function. In [note 2], the student will find listed the recommended exams grouped by areas.
