One of the goals of the Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences is to establish a connection between the study period and the world of work. During the internship, students apply the knowledge acquired in university courses within the work context and acquire new skills related to professional activities. It is an important experience for personal and professional growth, as it represents a first contact with the world of work and a fundamental piece for building a curriculum.
The internship involves a training period at companies, professional studios, firms, laboratories, or institutions and public bodies external to the University; it must be carried out during the course of study and must not exceed 12 months in duration. Additionally, students have the option to undertake the internship at the hosting University in the case of international mobility, as well as an additional internship within 12 months after obtaining the degree. Each student is supervised by a professional tutor within the hosting organization and by a training tutor identified among the professors of the Department, who acts as a guarantor of the respect for the agreed training project. The internship request must be formalized according to the provisions provided by the department’s secretariat listed below.
The student has two options:
A) They can choose to carry out the internship at a company among those already affiliated with the DAFNE Department, or,
B) They can propose a new company to be affiliated.
A) Companies affiliated with DAFNE (it is also possible to choose companies affiliated with other departments). To verify which companies are affiliated with other departments, click here: DIBAF or DEB.

The completed Questionnaire, signed, and stamped by the company. The total number of hours to be spent at the host institution is defined by the educational system of the student’s course of study, taking into account the ratio of 1 ECTS = 25 hours of student activity. The dedicated Internship Diary, to be completed with the daily activity log, must be approved by the teacher tutor and, as certification of attendance, signed by the company tutor. Regarding the documents that must be signed by the teacher tutor, they must be sent to the teacher for approval via email. Physical signature on the document is not required.

Regulation
Elective Training Activities (AFS) for Degree Courses (DM 270/2004) must be consistent with the educational project. These AFS are distinguished for the first and second level (Bachelor’s and Master’s degree respectively). Exceptionally, a student may indicate courses of a different level than their own: in this case, the choice must be approved by resolution of the CdD with specific justifications, upon proposal by the CCdS. However, it is not possible to include among the AFS teachings that substantially repeat didactic activities in their respective programs or plans. For past cases, any non-compliant situation is remedied if there is no adequate resolution by the CdD.
For Degree Courses (DM 509/1999), reference will generally be made to what is established for Degree Courses (DM 270/2004), and the same for residual five-year VO courses.
For AFS, all courses activated at the DAFNE, DIBAF, and DEB Departments are optional, as they are consistent with the educational project of the various CCdS of the Department. In all other cases, interested students must submit a specific motivated application to the CCdS.
At least 50% of the CFUs of AFS provided must be carried out in the form of an exam with a grade. Up to a maximum of 50% of the CFUs provided, exams with a pass/fail judgment or other training activities (internship, orientation, other activities upon prior and motivated approval of the CCS, subsequently approved by the CdD) are admitted. There are no extensions for final exams and thesis.
Departmental teachers can offer specific courses as AFS at the beginning of each academic year or offer modules that have didactic coherence, extracting portions of curricular courses to offer in this case to students of other educational paths. Such offers must be approved by the CCdS and deliberated in the CdD and reported in the Manifests and in the Student Guide. To avoid affecting the DID, such courses or activities can be proposed as “advanced courses.”
In the recognition of AFS, in the specific case of ERASMUS recognitions or in other international student mobility programs, and in these cases also for recognized compulsory courses, any decimal grades are rounded to the nearest whole number, according to the usual convention for deficiency or excess.
Elective activities selected in study plans will be subject to sample checks.
