The Department of Economics, Engineering, Society, and Business at the University of Tuscia was established in 2011, merging the research functions of the Department of Business and Quality Studies with the teaching functions of the Faculty of Economics. It is now the reference structure at the University of Tuscia for the fields of Economics, Engineering, and Political Science.

In recent years, the Department has heavily invested in building a network of relationships with businesses and the labor market, allowing students to engage in applied study experiences through internships, traineeships, and project work. As a result, many graduates from the Department’s programs find employment quickly.

The Department places special emphasis on the continuous updating of programs, coordinating the skills developed across various courses, developing innovative teaching methodologies (such as case studies, group work, and simulations), and utilizing qualified business testimonials. These activities are essential for developing competitive professional profiles. The research activities of the DEIM are characterized by multidisciplinary approaches, with a focus on advanced research in both traditional and innovative fields.

Regarding libraries, the collection for the economic area includes at least 40,000 volumes and over 300 print journals. Additionally, the library offers specialized databases and electronic periodicals to support economic disciplines.

Where

The Department of Economics, Engineering, Society, and Business is located at Via del Paradiso, 47, which is also where the Department’s Academic Office is situated.

The Department offers degree programs across various locations, and at each of these, the student community has access to numerous services:

  • The economics courses are delivered at the Department’s main site on Via del Paradiso, which features seven classrooms, two computer labs, and shared study areas.
  • The Department’s Engineering courses are offered at Largo dell’Università, at the Riello Campus, and are equipped with eleven classrooms, three teaching and scientific laboratories, one computer lab, and numerous spaces for students.

  • Political Science courses are provided at the main university campus in Santa Maria in Gradi, which boasts well-equipped classrooms, computer labs, and spacious common areas for students.

All classrooms are equipped for multimedia-supported teaching, and most indoor and outdoor areas of the Department are covered by Wi-Fi signal and connected to the university network. This connection also provides free access to major databases, scientific journals, and other electronic resources for study and learning.
