ABSTRACT

The “Grano Green (GRAEEN) Project: Enhancement of products and waste from the wheat supply chain for multifunctional green applications” aligns with the Smart Specialisation Strategy S3 of the Lazio Region, particularly with the “Green Economy” AdS. The goals and objectives of the project fall within the eligible themes of “Biotechnologies” and “Recycling”. The proposed project has a high degree of multifunctionality and also fits into the Agrifood specialization area, understood as the entire agri-food supply chain.

The project is divided into 7 WPs, which address specific issues of the wheat supply chain, including the production of foods with high health value, the use of waste from its supply chain to create eco-innovative products for balanced development of various agricultural crops, and the ability to support protection strategies for important agricultural crops with completely green approaches, such as the use of bran waste for the production of innovative animal feeds for animal welfare, as well as the qualitative improvement of their productions (milk, cheese, and meat).
