The Agro-Energy Laboratory (ENERLAB) established at the Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences (DAFNE) of the University of Tuscia in Viterbo is a structure of significant importance for teaching, research and services offered within the University and the Territory. It deals with feasibility studies regarding renewable energy and agro-energy districts, characterized by the use of renewable energy and rational use of energy in the agricultural, forestry and agro-industrial sectors.

ENERLAB intends to be the key promoter to promote a structured and integrated set of initiatives and projects aimed at the development and strengthening of research and innovation in the agro-energy sector for the benefit of various entities (both public and private) for the benefit of development sustainable and territorial. The Laboratory is an environment equipped with modern scientific equipment used to carry out both research and teaching activities (internships, internships, final papers, degree theses).

The prospect is to encourage concrete sustainable development, experimenting with a variety of energy production plants (even small ones) capable of exploiting different local energy resources (e.g. agrivoltaic, waste biomass or residuals of agricultural and agro-industrial origin), also valorising other energy carriers other than electricity.
