Educational Collections Laboratory

Opening hours I semester a.y. 2024-2025

The opening of the teaching collections room is aimed at the use of the collections and the use of the equipment therein (especially the teaching insectarium and herbarium) by students preparing for examinations.

  • Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The hours will be adhered to for the entire first semester, i.e. until the end of February 2025, and will be valid from 4 October.

The Teaching Collections laboratory is equipped with cabinets and showcases, 2 counters (24-28 seats) with stereo microscopes and lenses for the study of exhibits and fresh materials, and also serves as a ‘dirty laboratory’ for the study and preparation of fresh specimens (herbaria, insectaria, etc.).

          

A didactic herbarium with 280 plates of dried plants, a botany collection with models of flowers, fruits and general botany, numerous models of fruit tree breeding forms, an entomology collection with models of insect mouthparts and numerous entomological boxes, forest and agricultural plant seeds, rocks, etc. can all be consulted.

          

It is available to lecturers for practical lessons and exercises, students, thesis students or trainees at set times throughout the academic year. During special events (Open Day, orientation, seminars, etc.) the classroom is open to the public. The collections are included in the University Museum System (SMA, www.sma.unitus.it).
