
The laboratory, located on the third floor of the Civitavecchia campus, is used for practical teaching exercises and can host up to 12 students.
The laboratory is equipped with optical microscopes for viewing preparations on slides and stereomicroscopes for viewing fragments or three-dimensional organisms. It is also equipped with all the materials required for setting up and observing microscopic preparations (glass slides, coverslips, forceps, sprays, gloves).
In the laboratory, there is a laminar flow hood for sterile cell culture, a CO2 incubator with a gas cylinder for cell growth, a thermostatic incubator, a bench-top autoclave for sterilising materials, an inverted microscope for viewing live cells on a plate, a bench-top centrifuge for 1.5/2ml and 15ml tubes, a spectrophotometer, a thermostatic bath, a refrigerator with a freezer, and other small bench-top equipment such as pipettors for various volumes, heating plates, and a test tube shakers. The biology laboratory is used for the teaching of bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
