At the University of Tuscia it is possible to participate in international Summer and Winter School courses. These are courses of varying duration, delivered in different languages and at the end of which educational credits or certificates of participation are awarded.
Brief Description
The internationalisation project of the L-21 Progettazione del Paesaggio e del Territorio degree course aims to promote the study and enhancement of landscapes of inland, rural and mountainous areas at an international level. The F_LAND Summer School offers students in-depth training on various topics related to marginal landscapes. These contexts, not only in Italy but also in other countries, need to be preserved and managed in a sustainable way. These are delicate and precious areas that require careful planning to ensure a harmonious socio-economic development, focused on different sectors, including tourism, agriculture and energy, capable of enhancing Natural Capital and protecting biodiversity. F_LAND offers theoretical and practical activities aimed at enriching specific skills for landscape planning and design in these contexts.
Brief description
The 4th edition of the international summer school ‘Design of sustainable food systems’ (DS-FOOD) addresses the issue of sustainability in food systems, highlighted by the European ‘Farm-to-Fork’ strategy. Organised by the University of Tuscia in Italy, the school aims to prepare students with multidisciplinary knowledge to promote the transition towards more sustainable food systems. The programme includes lectures, seminars, field trips and working groups, focusing on topics such as sustainable production, food processing, responsible consumption styles and food waste reduction.
Brief description
The aim of the course is to bring together PhD and Master’s students from different fields (biology, agronomy, horticulture, agroecology, etc.) working on plant health issues and to link them to aspects of policies governing these fields. A special focus will be on artificial intelligence (AI) in relation to plant health. This includes machine and deep learning methods for disease and pest monitoring, as well as broader aspects and a discussion of how AI will influence the field of plant health research. Advanced knowledge of machine and deep learning methods is not required. In order to take into account the expected diversity of students and to ensure that they are at a comparable scientific level when discussing management strategy, some initial lectures will be devoted to introducing the fundamental aspects of plant health. Lecturers will be asked to provide a brief basic introduction to the subject area and then move on to the most recent results, which will also be discussed during literature seminars.
