The Laboratory is equipped with modern scientific instruments used for both research and educational activities (internships, traineeships, final projects, and theses).

The main research areas developed are as follows:

• Synthesis of new molecules and structural modifications of natural molecules using environmentally friendly procedures aimed at modulating their physicochemical properties and enhancing their biological activities.
• Preparation of extracts from plant matrices using traditional and innovative techniques; isolation of key compounds using chromatographic techniques, structural characterization through Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC-DAD).
• Valorization of agricultural waste and by-products to produce high added-value molecules, in line with the principles of green chemistry and circular economy.

In collaboration with other research groups, the synthetic molecules and extracts from plant and/or waste matrices are evaluated for specific biological activities (antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antitumoral), for applications in agronomy, food, nutraceutical, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical fields.
