ABSTRACT
Among the microbes associated with roots, an important role is played by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMFs), symbionts that improve mineral uptake and increase tolerance to (a)biotic stresses thanks to “mycorrhizal induced resistance” (MIR). The main objective of the project is to discover the molecular signalling mechanisms that regulate both the early stages of mycorrhizal colonization of durum wheat roots and RIM, under salinity and fusarium conditions. The study of key elements in the regulation of plant immune responses and the interconnectedness between the hormonal pathways activated during the establishment of symbiosis, as well as in MIR, will provide a comprehensive understanding of the AMF-durum wheat symbiotic interaction, how it is affected by salinity stress and MIR to fusariosis.
