SUNRISE
ABSTRACT
The University of Tuscia is participating in the project “SUNRISE – Sustainable Urban areas by Nature-based solutions implementation to mitigate climate impacts and achieve a Resilient, Innovative and Smart Environment”, funded with a total of 400,000 euros by the PNRR under the theme “Experimentation, testing, and monitoring of Nature-Based Solutions for mitigating climate impacts in urban areas.”
The lead institution of SUNRISE will be the University of Calabria, and partners will include the Universities of Messina, Catania, Campania Vanvitelli, Parthenope, Brescia, Pavia, Trieste, Basilicata, and Unitus DAFNE. Specifically, the University of Tuscia will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of different vegetative covers in mitigating soil erosion and reducing surface runoff, as well as investigating the efficacy of various types of green roofs in intercepting and retaining rainwater in urban and peri-urban contexts.
This research will be made possible through specialized experimental equipment at the University of Tuscia’s Experimental Farm, within the MecHydroLab plot. The scientific coordinator of the project will be Professor Andrea Petroselli from the DAFNE Department.
