Study Programs and PhDs

Study Programmess

Study Programs are at the heart of the University’s educational mission and are designed through the development of one or more graduate profiles. Study Programmes must provide/ensure:

• Orientation and tutoring activities to foster students’ awareness of critical choices
• A broad, transdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary educational study program, with flexible teaching methodologies and pathways to ensure the prerequisites for student autonomy
• Adequate numbers of teaching staff, tutors, and specialized staff, with the appropriate qualifications, to support teaching needs
• Participation of teaching staff in training, development, and scientific, methodological, and teaching skills update initiatives to support quality and innovation
• The constant updating of the study program to reflect the most advanced knowledge in the disciplines, also in view of continuing studies in subsequent cycles, guaranteeing the exchange with the world of research and the world of work

Study Programs are responsible for preparing the Annual Monitoring Form and the the Cyclical Review Reports;.

PhD Programmes

PhD Programmes were introduced into the quality assurance system with the AVA 3 Model.

Ministerial Decree 226/2021 redefined the procedures for the accreditation of institutions and PhD Programs: the accreditation system is divided into the initial authorization to activate PhD Programs and the accreditation of the institutions where they are carried out, as well as the periodic verification of the continued fulfillment of the requirements for these purposes.

The requirements defined by ANVUR for the Periodic Accreditation of PhD Programs are in line with the ESG guidelines and fulfill the requirements defined in Article 4, paragraph 1, letter g of Ministerial Decree 226/2021.

Programs must provide training activities consistent with the objectives and graduate profiles and distinct from the teaching activities of the first cycles. Particular attention must be paid to interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity, and transdisciplinarity. The PhD program must pursue mobility and internationalization objectives and provide for the planning and organization of training and research activities for the growth of doctoral students, as well as make available financial and structural resources and any external tutors of national/international standing, with the aim of creating the conditions for the autonomy of the doctoral student in carrying out research activities. The PhD Program must also have a system for monitoring processes and results related to research, teaching, and third mission activities and for listening to doctoral students, also through the collection and analysis of their opinions.
