Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology of Agricultural Crops Laboratory

The main interest of the group is the signal transduction pathway that plant cells use to respond to environmental stresses.

The Laboratory is equipped with modern scientific instruments used to carry out both research and teaching activities (e.g. theses and training internships), such as for example the Leica confocal microscope ‘Stellaris 5’.

The main research objectives focus on:

• Characterization of genes and molecular mechanisms that regulate immune signaling in resistance to biotic stresses;
• Development of innovative strategies for the engineering of hormonal signaling pathways for the benefit of both immunity and productivity;
• Identification of the signal molecules involved in crop-symbiotic fungi communication and study of their role in the induced-resistance to stresses.
