ABSTRACT 

General aim of the project is to optimize the long-term storage conditions of the tomato germplasm collection gathered in the Lazio region. The project will be developed in 15 months and will be composed of four tasks. Task 1 aims to collect new germplasm from the Lazio region, an activity carried out in tight collaboration with ARSIAL, to expand the collection existing at Dafne with new accessions from the region. Task 2 aims to the germplasm conservation; all accessions will enter in the conservation phase when a minimum of 1000 seeds available will be achieved. In parallel with the development of the long-term ex situ conservation strategy, a database including all passport, phenotypic and genotypic information will be implemented. Task 3 is dedicated to germplasm multiplication, whereas Task 4 aims to genetic characterization of the material.
