Title: New Approaches to Early Modern Thought: Forms, Characteristics, and Purposes of the Constellatory Method

Brief Description and Research Objectives:

The project will employ the “constellatory” method, which simultaneously mobilizes the aggregation of lexical and conceptual aspects in text analysis, as well as the knowledge of intellectual relationships, investigation of sources, and study of posterity, in both the sense of influence and reaction.

The research aims to:

a) Provide tools for defining and analyzing the conceptual constellations of early modern philosophy;

b) Inventory and map the circulation of texts, authors, and issues between the late 16th century and the mid-18th century;

c) Analyze the terminological modifications that occurred between the 16th and 17th centuries and their impact in the 17th and 18th centuries;

d) Redefine, in light of new research, the constitutive characteristics of early modern thought, considered in an integrated and synergistic manner in relation to its sources, conceptual problems, circulation, and reception;

e) Present the research results within the scientific community, to a broader audience, and in educational settings.
