ABSTRACT

The ATENA project aims to develop a platform for the design and management of modern tree, intensive and super-intensive cropping systems in areas with different environmental, agronomic and socio-economic vocations. The platform, called DSDP (Decision Science Design Platform), is designed as a technological framework that is configurable, intuitive, accessible and can be integrated with existing hardware and software systems. The DSDP developed in ATENA will be a SaaS platform capable of hosting, managing and running cloud-based services for the creation of complex decision support systems using artificial intelligence methods and models. In particular, the research and development activities of the project aim to provide a low-code platform, i.e. a platform that enables the design, development, deployment and operation of artificial intelligence applications without necessarily being a software developer. For this reason, the platform can be defined as a Decision Support Design Platform (DSDP), where the word ‘design’ is one of the main innovations, in addition to the well-known DSP or DSS. Design will involve both the creation of the computational pipelines for decision support and, through them, the planning of a new tree planting.
