In the laboratory, we address issues related to biotechnology and pharmaceutical biology, particularly focusing on the development of new pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and nutraceutical products of plant origin.

The research activities involve the design and creation of recombinant biopharmaceuticals derived from genetic engineering, specifically using plant viruses for the expression of heterologous proteins and the display of bioactive peptides on the surface of viral nanoparticles propagated and extracted from tobacco plants.

Another research line focuses on the use of plant-derived secondary metabolites to promote biological activities such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.
