The rendering of intangible cultural heritage: for a Museum of the Italian language

Brief Description and Objectives of the Research:

The Italian language, an intangible asset with immense potential but underutilized, has never had its own museum. A large, comprehensive, and technological museum like those dedicated to other languages in Europe and around the world.

The translation of intangible heritage into a virtual exhibition object addresses, in light of the most up-to-date bibliography, issues related respectively to: a. defining the different types of objects to be exhibited; b. the most effective exhibition methods in terms of narrative reconstruction; c. analyzing the different types of audiences to be reached with guided tours. For the project, a web platform is developed capable of offering users dynamic and interactive exhibition paths of great effectiveness, with simultaneous visualization of multimedia digital objects physically located in different repositories and subject to different types of licenses.

The Museum of the Italian language is a space open to all, accessible online with its three-dimensional architecture: with its floors, its rooms, and its exhibits. Objects selected to be icons of different aspects and concepts, capable of presenting the Italian language in its comprehensive development through time, space, and society.
