The centrality of the student community is a fundamental principle of the University’s Quality Assurance System, as well as of the AVA system (Self-Assessment, Periodic Evaluation, and Accreditation).
Students can express their opinions both directly and indirectly.
Directly through:
Indirectly, they can express themselves through representation mechanisms in University Bodies (Academic Senate, Governing Board, University Evaluation Board, University Quality Assurance Office, Departmental Councils, Course Councils, and in particular the Departmental Joint Teaching-Student Committees, as the highest expression of participation as they directly receive the requests of students in each course of study).
Pursuant to Article 1, paragraphs 1 and 2, of Law No. 370 of October 19, 1999, “universities adopt an internal evaluation system (…) of teaching and research activities, (…) verifying (…) the correct use of public resources, the productivity of research and teaching, as well as the impartiality and efficiency of administrative action”; moreover, “(…) they periodically acquire, maintaining anonymity, the opinions of attending students on teaching activities and transmit a specific report, by April 30 of each year, to the Ministry of University and Scientific and Technological Research and to the National Committee for the evaluation of the university system (…)“.
The University of Tuscia periodically asks students to express their opinions – in a completely anonymous manner – about teaching activities. Opinions are collected through online questionnaires regarding courses attended or currently being attended.
Completion is mandatory for the purpose of booking the exam for each course.
Since the academic year 2016/2017, the University has held a semesterly “Week of the finding of the opinions of students”, initiated by the University Quality Committee. During this week, professors introduce the initiative to in-person and remote students, emphasizing the following key points:
A link and instructions for completing the student opinion survey (ITA ; EN) will be sent to students’ personal email addresses.
For a more in-depth analysis of the survey results, please refer to the Reports of University Evaluation Board.
The AVA 3 model, which also introduced doctoral programs into the accreditation process, requires that these programs have “a system for monitoring processes and outcomes related to research, teaching, and third-mission activities, and for listening to doctoral students, including through the collection and analysis of their opinions“.
Starting from 2023, the University of Tuscia has been administering fully anonymous ANVUR questionnaires in both Italian and English to assess the satisfaction of doctoral students and PhD holders, with the aim of improving the quality of doctoral programs.
The complete list of current surveys is available on the Data and Statistics
