The Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences, like the entire university, adheres to the Guidelines of the National University Conference of Disability Delegates (CNUDD), available at the following link: CNUDD Guidelines 2014
The contact person for inclusion and equity in the department is Dr. Daniela Willems (willems@unitus.it).
Orientation for Incoming Future Students
Students can schedule an appointment with the dedicated office and the departmental contact person (willems@unitus.it) for necessary orientation upon entry and all relevant information about the inclusive services offered by the university.
University Course Admission Tests
During the registration procedure for the admission test, students can upload certification attesting to their condition of disability/impairment in PDF format. This allows for the application of compensatory measures by selecting the required supports.
Access to Services
To access the services, students must submit a valid certification during the online registration process. This certification must indicate the percentage of disability or the disability condition as per Article 3, Paragraph 3, of Law 104/92.
The certification can be uploaded by the student to their personal page on the GOMP Student Portal. It is also strongly recommended to send a copy to the Academic Office (m.valeri@unitus.it). This certification will remain strictly confidential and accessible only to authorized personnel.
Individual Meetings
For academic mediation regarding students’ needs for course attendance and exam completion, please contact the instructor or the departmental contact person directly via email (willems@unitus.it).
Detailed Description of Inclusive Services
A comprehensive description of the inclusive services available to students, along with the dedicated forms, can be found at the following link: Inclusive Services and Forms
Economic Benefits
Students with a disability of 66% or higher, or with recognition of disability as per Article 3, Paragraphs 1 and 3 of Law 104/92, are exempt from paying university fees and only need to pay the 16-euro stamp duty.
International Mobility
The Erasmus+ Program allows university students to spend a period of study at a partner university that has an agreement with their home institution.
Students with a disability of 66% or higher are eligible for an additional financial contribution, which is combined with the benefits provided by the exchange program. This contribution is intended to address the specific needs related to their disability.
Specialized Tutoring
Students with disabilities can request to be paired with a “peer” tutor. This service is provided by a student enrolled in the same course of study, selected through a call for applications, based on the student’s specific requests and an analysis of their educational needs.
To request a peer tutor, students should submit a formal request to the Educational Offer Office (inclusione@unitus.it, tel. 0761 357912).
Customized Academic and Exam Accommodations
Compensatory tools and dispensatory measures may be granted to students both during academic activities and while taking exams. Given the variability of specific learning disabilities (DSA) and the diverse needs of students, it is essential to evaluate the most appropriate compensatory measures and dispensatory tools on a case-by-case basis, considering the specific requirements of each discipline and course objectives. To adapt study and assessment methods while maintaining learning objectives, students should contact their instructor in advance (at least 30 days before the exam session) using the appropriate form.
Compensatory Tools
The available compensatory tools and dispensatory measures are described in points 2 and 3 of the CNUDD Guidelines annex, which can be accessed here: CNUDD Guidelines 2014
Students can borrow computer equipment to facilitate their study and participation in university activities. Information about accessible texts can be requested from the dedicated office.
Psychological Support
The Counseling Service is available to the entire student community to prevent and manage psychological issues that may arise during their academic journey.
To schedule a meeting with the Counseling Office staff, either in person or online, please make an appointment by sending an email to inclusione@unitus.it or by calling 0761 357912.
