Third Mission

The social impact of universities (the so-called Third Mission) encompasses a set of activities aimed at strengthening the relationships between the academic world and the community, schools, institutions, and businesses, with the goal of promoting the social, economic, and cultural growth of the territory. The Third Mission integrates and expands upon the traditional activities of the university, which include research and teaching. The University of Tuscia is actively engaged in interactions with civil society and the entrepreneurial fabric that fall into two main areas:

  1. Relations with businesses and research valorization, including technology transfer, management of intellectual and industrial property, promotion of academic entrepreneurship, internships, and placement for students and graduates to enter the world of work.
  2. Cultural initiatives of public utility, including cultural and scientific dissemination, continuing education, interaction with the world of schools, social inclusion and sustainability, production and management of cultural assets.

The Italian Research Quality Assessment (VQR) evaluates the scientific production and Third Mission activities of Italian higher education and research institutions. Consult here the case studies presented by UNITUS for the period 2015-2019.
