On September 7, 2023, the event “The Walking DEB: Scientific Trekking to Discover Natural Sciences” was held, organized by the professors of the Bachelor’s Degree in Natural and Environmental Sciences from the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) at the University of Tuscia. Around 100 people participated, double the initially expected number, and they appreciated the scientific and educational approach of the excursion, which took place in the ancient beech forest of Monte Raschio in Oriolo Romano.
Upon arrival, participants were welcomed by Dr. Roberta Meschini, head of orientation, who introduced the day’s program. Afterwards, speeches were given by the mayor of Oriolo Romano, Emanuele Rallo, and representatives from the Bracciano-Martignano Regional Natural Park: Daniele Badaloni, Andrea Cerulli, Luisa Lorenzetti, and Agnese Falanga.
The interdisciplinary trek was guided by course professors, including Prof. Gianluca Piovesan, who covered forest aspects, Prof. Goffredo Filibeck, who focused on botany, Prof. Carlo Belfiore, who handled zoology, and Dr. Chiara Sbarbati, who addressed geological topics.
