The Department of Legal, Social, and Educational Sciences at the University of Tuscia was established on October 1, 2024, by merging the areas of social, legal, and educational sciences into a single structure.
Within the DIKE Department, legal, political, communication, and information sciences engage in productive dialogue with the fields of education and social services, with the aim of enhancing the visibility and competitiveness of the educational offerings in these areas.
This dialogue, which is open to contributions from all other social sciences within the University, elevates the quality of interdisciplinary research, making it capable of offering new perspectives on current and future social changes.
The objective is to generate project-based and educational synergies, thereby increasing the overall impact of the Department’s activities, strengthening its coherence and effectiveness within the University, and expanding its outreach. The affinities and complementarities of the activities, skills, and knowledge involved constitute the starting point, while their harmonious and inclusive development within the Department represents the end goal, the aspiration to be pursued through a clear and consistent departmental strategy. Therefore, the affinities and complementarities of the activities and skills involved are the ‘premises-objectives’ of the DIKE Department, within a broader perspective of promoting a rationalization process of the departmental structure within the University.
The DIKE Department’s educational offerings include six degree programs delivered at the San Carlo Complex and Santa Maria in Gradi locations: a single-cycle degree in Law (LMG-01), two three-year degrees in Educational Sciences (L-19) and Communication, Technologies, and Digital Cultures (L-20), and three master’s degrees in Digital Information (LM-91), Security and Human Rights (LM-90), Political Science, International Security, and Public Communication (LM-62) – an interdepartmental program with DEIM. In each of these programs, the student community has access to numerous services.
For those wishing to further their education in research, the DIKE Department offers the opportunity to enroll in the Ph.D. program in Law of European and Global Markets: Crises, Rights, Regulations.
All classrooms are equipped for multimedia-supported lessons, and all indoor spaces and a significant portion of the outdoor areas of the Department are covered by Wi-Fi and connected to the University’s network, which also provides free access to important databases, scientific journals, and other electronic resources for study and learning.
