The MSc Course gives to the graduates depth and specialized knowledge and skills relating to both crops and livestock production. These are aimed at the design and management of innovations in qualitative and quantitative agricultural production, through a systemic approach, by combining knowledge and biological needs with farms and landscape resources, technical means and environmental sustainability.

The common basic teachings address the topics of research methodology in agriculture, innovations and management of agricultural and livestock systems, sustainable strategies in crops protection, obtaining quality plant products, agricultural policies, management of agricultural enterprises and investment analysis, agricultural mechanization, rural landscape planning and job safety in agriculture in their innovative aspects.

  • Learning objectives

    The course trains graduates with in-depth and specialized knowledge and skills on vegetable and zootechnical production, to design and manage the innovation of qualitative and quantitative agricultural production with a systemic approach, combining biological knowledge and needs with corporate and territorial resources, technical means and environmental sustainability. The teachings deal with the themes of innovation, management and research of agricultural and livestock systems, and territorial systems in broad meanings including economic and managerial ones, territorial-environmental safety and work.

  • Training Course

    The MSc course in “Agriculture and Environmental Science” is structured in two curricula.

     

    1. CurriculumAgricultural Science (ScAg)”, in this programme the teaching courses focus the attention to general aspects of food production process by herbaceous, tree, vegetable crops, and by livestock; all teaching courses of the whole programme is held in Italian language.
    1. CurriculumOrganic Agriculture in Mediterranean Areas (OrgAgriMed)“, in this programme the teaching courses focus the attention to the sustainability, resilience, and climate change aspects in mediterranean environments of food production processes; all teaching courses of the whole programme is held in Englisch language. This MSc programme will be started in September 2024.

  • Career opportunities

    Agronomist in public and private organizations; freelance job as Senior agronomist; manager of agricultural and livestock farms, competent in quality production on the field and in post-harvest, in nutrition and animal welness; agronomist competent in the protection of the environment, territory, rural and urban landscape, job safety.

    Alter five years from the degree, the ISTAT employment rate far second degree course SAA graduates was 83% in 2016 (ALMA LAUREA data, source ISTAT)

    Specialized knowledge and skills can be enhanced through the curricula:

    • cultivation;
    • economics and territory ;
    • zootechnician.

    The   course has a common basis  and  three  specialised  profiles: the common basis are focussed on the research methodology in agriculture, the innovation and management of agricultural and livestock systems, sustainable  strategies   aimed   at   protecting  crops, the development of quality plant products, business management and investment analysis, agricultural mechanization, regional safety and  setup  and  work safety  in their  most  innovative  aspects.

    The development of specialised knowledge and competences happens in the second year with:

    a cultivation profile; students learn how to obtain quality products, improve genetics, horticultural crops, fruit crops and viticulture;

    a territorial financial profile; students acquire knowledge  about  the  optimisation of    regional planning, job safety in agriculture and economics rural development policies;

    a livestock profile; students learn how to optimize forage production and conservation, gain knowledge on food science and techniques in livestock management and on the quality of animal products.
