Orientation and tutoring service

The orientation service includes:

• Presentation of the Department’s educational offerings at secondary schools;
• Seminars and workshops on the Department’s teaching and research topics to engage students with the subjects covered in the degree courses;
• Information on entrance exams;
• Reception and assistance for new students with enrollment procedures, access to the GOMP and MOODLE portals, and available student services (cafeteria, student housing, transportation).

The ongoing orientation service aims to support students enrolled in departmental degree courses throughout their studies with the goal of:

• Optimizing learning conditions and quality through advice and support to effectively and consciously overcome difficulties;
• Promoting the completion of the study program within the time frame established by the curriculum;
• Reducing dropout rates and providing assistance in preparing individual study plans and handling general administrative procedures;
• Making informed choices regarding master’s degree courses.

The orientation service is supported by the activities of TUTORS (master’s degree students and departmental doctoral candidates), selected based on specific calls issued by the University.

WHAT IS TUTORING?

Tutoring is a service designed to assist students enrolled at the university throughout their academic journey, monitoring their academic progress and encouraging active participation in university life.

Who is it for?

For students enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs and those in master’s degree programs.

What services are offered?

TUTORS provide prompt support and assistance with matters such as:

• Enrollment procedures;
• Access to the student portal;
• Discrepancies between exams taken and those recorded in electronic records;
• Forms for conducting and recognizing internships;
• Completion of individual study plans on the portal;
• Collection and transfer of student requests to the administrative offices, relevant departments, the Course Coordinator, or individual professors.

–  INFOPOINT, located at Viterbo’s site on the 1st floor of Block B (Riello campus), next to the academic office, or by calling 0761 357114 (phone line available and reachable only during office hours) ; and in Civitavecchia, at the desk located near the concierge (secondary entrance), or by calling 0766 28931 (phone line available and reachable only during office hours).

Monday and Thursday | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays it is possible to contact the Academic Office.

Monday | 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM and Thursday | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

TEACHING TUTORS

• Provide advice to students through individual and/or group meetings for preparing study plans and addressing issues related to prerequisites, course attendance, exercises, and laboratory activities;
• Offer support in studying to improve learning quality, including suggestions on study methods, and facilitate relationships with professors;
• Report to the  Degree Programme Board the need to promote recovery activities for inactive freshmen.
