The research aims to examine the changes in the literary language of English literature from the second half of the 19th century to the early decades of the 20th century, with a particular focus on the stylistic and rhetorical strategies of the most important authors. Additionally, the research intends to trace and analyze how the social, intellectual, and cultural transformations of the Victorian era have weakened the ability of the predominant literary language to faithfully and realistically represent the referential world.
