    Immunology Seminar: Immune Mechanisms in Cancer
    3 December 2025 | 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
    Coordinator: Marialetizia Palomba
    The seminar presented the latest experimental evidence on the mechanisms by which brain tumors modulate the immune system and discussed the role of T lymphocytes as predictive and prognostic biomarkers. It also introduced the research activities of the Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Cellular Therapies, highlighting the connection between clinical practice and laboratory research.

     

    Parasites in Nordic Fisheries and Aquaculture
    29 September 2025 | 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

    As part of the Marine Parasitology course, the seminar explored the occurrence and impact of parasites in Nordic fisheries and aquaculture, presenting experimental evidence and case studies relevant to food safety and the sustainable management of marine resources.

     

    Hybridization and Evolutionary Success: From Insects to Humans
    9 May 2025 | 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
    Coordinator: Roberta Bisconti
    As part of the General and Population Ecology course, this seminar by Prof. Giuseppe Nascetti examined the role of hybridization in evolutionary success, presenting examples from insects to humans and illustrating how this process contributes to the emergence of new species.

     

    Computational Modeling in Research and Future Perspectives in Quantum Computing

    As part of the Erasmus+ KA171 project, Prof. Kakhaber Tavzarashvili’s seminar explored the potential of computational modeling in scientific research, with particular emphasis on surface plasmon polaritons and frequency-selective surfaces, highlighting innovative applications in the manipulation of nanoparticles and molecular layers.

    Speaker: Wolf Dietrich Geppert, Director of the Centre for Astrobiology, Stockholm University.
    The seminar presented the role of the European Astrobiology Institute in advancing European research, education, and scientific collaboration in astrobiology, with a particular focus on the study of habitable environments and the search for life beyond Earth.
