Living in Viterbo: Dining Service, Accommodations, and Student Housing

The University of Tuscia cares deeply about its students and works to provide everyone with the opportunity to study at the University and to live in the city of Viterbo in a comfortable manner. The Student Residence and the Dining Service are two of the various DiscoLazio services available to those who choose to study at Unitus.

 

Student Housing and Accommodations

DISCo – the regional agency for the right to education and knowledge promotion – is responsible for ensuring access to university for capable and deserving students. Among the services offered by the agency is that of Accommodation Placement, in single or double rooms, at the University Residences. This benefit is reserved for students residing outside the province of Viterbo and meeting the requirements specified in the competition notice available on the LazioDisco website. 80 of the beds are reserved for international students participating in Erasmus programs at the University of Tuscia. It is also possible, in cases provided for by the regulations and only if available, to assign paid accommodation spaces.

 

The University Residences

The University Residences in Viterbo are two and are located:

  • Piazza San Sisto, 8 (65 sleeping accommodation);
  • Via Cardarelli, 77 (82 sleeping accommodation).

 

Unitus affitto sicuro – City Campus

Finding accommodation can sometimes be a challenging process. The University of Tuscia, always close to its students, has thought about this too. From the agreement between the University of Tuscia, the Municipality of Viterbo, the Italian Federation of Real Estate Agents (FIAIP), and the Italian Federation of Mediators Agents of Business (FIMAA) comes “Unitus Affitto Sicuro – City Campus“. It is a portal through which it is possible to find the perfect accommodation, exclusively leased to students, with related contractual and legal assistance.

Choose Unitus, choose Viterbo

Students who choose a property located in the historical center of the city are entitled to receive a free one-year subscription to the local public transportation service in Viterbo, provided by the company Francigena s.r.l.

Additionally, students are eligible for a 25% discount on all fees related to brokerage services.

Canteen

DISCo also manages the catering service. This service operates during the academic year, with the exception of national holidays and the summer period, during which the canteen suspends its activities.

There are two canteens in Viterbo: San Sisto Canteen (Piazza San Sisto, 8) and Via Alessandro Volta “Riello” Canteen (Via Alessandro Volta, 37). The university canteens are open from Monday to Friday from 11:45 AM to 3:00 PM, and they remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Costs of the canteen

  • For non-scholarship holders, the contribution varies from a minimum of €2.20 to a maximum of €7.70 based on income.
  • Scholarship winners with “on-site” status can benefit from one free meal per day.
  • Eligible non-winning scholarship applicants, enrolled in subsequent years after the first, are entitled to two free meals.

Access to the canteen service

To access the canteen service provided by DISCo, it is necessary to register on the DISCo Mensa App. This ensures the consumption of meals at any canteen or affiliated location.
