ABSTRACT

The chestnut forests of the Lazio region constitute an interesting heritage that extends over 30,000 hectares, in the foothills of the Lazio Apennines, from the area of Viterbo to the Frosinone Province. These areas are known for producing timber for agricultural use and other semi-finisched prodacts. The picture of knowledge of these formations and their surroundings is rather poor from an environmental point of view. The EMERSCUT-CAR project aims to learn about the richness of these ecosystems and the opportunities they offer. The territorial analysis areas covered some territories of the Lazio Region made available by the partners participating in the project, as well as the area of forest Montagna, which was identified as a reference unit.
