COMPONENTI DEL GRUPPO
Il gruppo di ricerca in Elettrotecnica è costituito da tre membri: il prof. G. Calabro, l’Ing. S. Mastrostefano e l’Ing. S. Minucci. La principale tematica di ricerca riguarda la fusione termonucleare controllata a confinamento magnetico, nell’ambito di una stretta collaborazione con il centro di ricerca ENEA di Frascati, l’Università degli studi di Napoli “Federico II”, l’Università degli studi di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale, il Consorzio CREATE, il CCFE ad Oxford, il Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik a Garching e la Chinese Academy of Sciences ad Hefei.
Scienze Elettriche e Fusione Termonucleare Controllata a Confinamento Magnetico: L’attività di ricerca svolta si colloca all’interno del SSD ING-IND/31 Elettrotecnica; in essa vengono affrontate tematiche relative alla ricerca di base e applicata, di carattere innovativo e di interesse strategico per l’industria. I principali temi di ricerca riguardano gli aspetti teorici e sperimentali dell’elettromagnetismo numerico ed applicato, volto allo sviluppo delle relative applicazioni nei vari settori della ingegneria, nell’ambito dei plasmi confinati magneticamente e della fusione termonucleare controllata; particolare enfasi viene data ad attività sperimentali, allo studio teorico e alla simulazione di sistemi elettromagnetici complessi, all’analisi dell’equilibrio magnetoidrodinamico del plasma e allo studio degli stress magnetici. Un’ulteriore attenzione viene data ai problemi relativi al controllo di forma e posizione dei plasmi termonucleari nelle macchine di tipo tokamak, nonché alla progettazione e allo studio delle configurazioni magnetiche alternative/avanzate per la mitigazione del problema dello smaltimento del calore e dei carichi termici nel divertore. Altra attività di rilievo è svolta nell’ambito delle Prove Non Distruttive Magnetiche.
