The social impact of the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences is expressed through a multiplicity of activities linked to the so-called “third mission”, in synergy with the university’s actions regarding research and teaching.
The department’s third mission activities aim to strengthen connections between communities, the private sector and universities, having as a point of reference the public – real and potential – understood in a broad sense, trying to broaden the pool of potential users through initiatives that aim to involve the public interested in scientific research in the environmental, chemical, physical and biological fields, with particular attention to the issues of safeguarding and conserving biodiversity and ecosystems, in a One Health approach.
