Greenhouses for vegetable-floriculture crops and nursery

 The vegetable and floriculture cultivations inside appropriately equipped greenhouses aim to achieve the objectives defined in numerous research projects and agreements made with major national and international companies operating in the agricultural sector.

The main activities are conducted in soilless systems and focus on evaluating the yield and quality of vegetable and floriculture crops through the study of water and mineral nutrition, plant-environment interactions, and plant adaptation to stress.

Specific areas of focus include:

• The use of biostimulants (natural substances and beneficial microorganisms) for the development of innovative nursery techniques and sustainable vegetable production.
• The use of advanced digital technologies to understand the dynamic morphophysiological changes of plants subjected to fertilization, biostimulation, and/or abiotic stress treatments.
• The application of herbaceous grafting to increase tolerance to environmental stresses and to improve the qualitative-quantitative characteristics of the product.

The greenhouses are used for both research and educational activities (internships, training, final projects, and thesis work).
