The Agricultural Mechanics Laboratory, established at DAFNE, a structure of significant educational, research and service importance offered within the University and the Territory, deals with the study of machines and systems for the agricultural and forestry sector, for greenery and for agro-industry, with particular attention to their design, construction, operational, functional, management and environmental, accident prevention and ergonomic aspects, to the automation and control of processes and to the use of conventional and non-conventional energy sources.

The skills concern agricultural and forestry mechanics and mechanization, modeling, machines and systems for agriculture, for greenery and for the agro-food and wood industries, for the use of biomass and for the recovery of agricultural and agro-industrial wastewater, energy in agro-forestry and agro-industrial systems, automation, control, safety and ergonomics of machines and systems for the agricultural, forestry and agro-industrial sectors.

From an educational point of view, the teachings of DSS AGRI-04/B – Agricultural Mechanics (Prof. Monarca, Cecchini, Colantoni, Bianchini and Rossi) refer to the laboratory activities.

In recent years, numerous educational and especially research activities have been carried out at the laboratory, with considerable participation by students, as demonstrated by the related thesis and internship activities.

Frequently, to carry out the main activities and services, collaborations and structures, largely external to the University of Tuscia, have been used, such as private mechanical firms, laboratories of other research institutes (in particular CREA-IT), private companies and test fields.
