Curriculum Vitae

  • Personal profile and research interests

During my studies, I acquired knowledge and skills in the blue economy thanks to the master’s degree in circular economy obtained in 2021. To date, I continue my research in this area by studying the sustainable and efficient development of ports with a focus on innovative ports that adopt innovative infrastructures and technologies to be more competitive and minimize their impact on the environment.

  • PhD project

My research is based on the study of smart ports through an in-depth review of scientific literature, publications and government documents in order to understand where research on this topic has reached. These ports are distinguished by the adoption of advanced infrastructures and technologies aimed at improving competitiveness while minimising their environmental impact. As part of my research, I will take a smart port as an example, evaluating and comparing the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ratings with those of a traditional port, such as that of Civitavecchia. Through this analysis, I will highlight the possible changes necessary for the traditional port to get closer to carbon neutrality, underlining the importance of technological and infrastructural innovations to achieve the goal of “net zero emissions” by 2050. Furthermore, I will integrate into my research the framework of the European Union taxonomy, which defines clear criteria for identifying sustainable economic activities. I will analyze how ports can align with these criteria to attract sustainable investments and contribute to the green transition. This approach will allow to evaluate not only the environmental impact, but also the overall sustainability of port operations, including the social and governance aspects foreseen by the EU taxonomy.
