  • Personal profile and research interests

Eleonora Sofia is a research fellow at Tuscia University (Viterbo). She has a MSc degree in Marketing and Quality and a PhD in Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods at Tuscia University. She has a Master Course in Agricultural Economics and Policy (University of Naples Federico II). Her research interests focus on agri-food sector sustainability transition and agri-food chain actors’ economic relations. Her research also focuses on consumer behavior and attitudes towards sustainable value chains and business models. She has collaborated in several national and international research projects.

  • PhD project

PhD research project included several activities carried out within the H2020 “Diverfarming” project. The main objective, in line with the objectives of the project, was to estimate the economic impact of the spread of crop diversification practices within one of the 6 different European countries involved (Italy) considering all actors in the analyzed value chain (farmers, processors, logistics and consumers) with the aim of highlighting shared solutions to increase sustainability production, natural resources protection and food quality in Europe. Research has focused on examining the effects of policy proposals (CAP) and sustainability initiatives on agri-food chains. Stated preference methods are employed to evaluate non-market goods and comprehend the social justification for promoting Sustainable practices with public resources. A choice experiment and a contingent valuation were employed to estimate citizens’ preferences and willingness to pay for ecosystem services provided by adopting these sustainable practices, and if it can justify the ecological transition path of the CAP reform 23-27 green architecture.
