Personal profile and research interests
Graduated in 2008 with a degree in environmental sciences and licensed as a geologist, I deal mainly with topics in applied geology, topography and geomatics, seismic, hydraulics, hydrogeology and geotechnics. My research activity focuses on geological hazard mitigation with special focus on issues related to sinkholes.
PhD project
The PhD is included in W.P. 3 Geological hazards, sinkholes task of the Geosciences IR Project of which ISPRA is the coordinator. The research activity focuses on issues related to the census of anthropogenic and natural cavities from the perspective of sinkholes risk mitigation. Through the use of multidisciplinary approaches (historical sources, photogrammetry, use of GIS, geophysics, etc.) we aim to field procedures for locating and census of anthropogenic and natural cavities, possibly also adding initial assessments about stability and scuscettibility to sinkholes formation. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the drafting of guidelines for sinkhole risk mitigation, the main objective of this task of the Geosciences IR project.
