    • CURRENT POSITION (since Jan 2025): Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics at Department for Innovation in Biological Systems, Food and Forestry, University of Tuscia, Viterbo, Italy.CAREER I have a background in Agricultural Science and I completed a PhD in Economics and Local Development in May 2012 at University of Tuscia (Viterbo). From 2012 to 2017 I worked as Research Assistant at the Department of Economics and Management of University of Tuscia, then I moved to the Department for Innovation in Biological, Agro-Food and Forest Systems where I got a position of tenure track Assistant Professor in 2022. I am the coordinator of the H2020 project LOWINFOOD, and I am acting as WP leader in the Horizon project WASTEWISE; both projects focus on food loss and waste reduction. I am also the Principal Investigator of the PRIN AGREF, a national project focusing on the study of unfair trading practices in the fruit and vegetables supply chain. At University of Tuscia I am lecturer of courses of food marketing, food economics and business management in the biotech sector. In the beginning of my career, I focused my research on the study of short food supply chains, conducting empirical surveys on farmers and customers participating to these chains, for a total of 2,000+ interviews. I have expertise in sustainability indicators design and calculation; for the doctoral dissertation, I developed a model to measure the sustainability performance of food chains, resulting in an optimization model intended to support local policy choices. In 2016 and 2019 I also worked with the FAO Department of Forestry to support the socio-economic evaluation of initiatives against desertification in Africa. Since 2015, my research became more closely focused on the issue of food waste, working at the projects REDUCE (national project), SEI ZERO (national project), LOWINFOOD (H2020) and WASTEWISE (Horizon). In these projects, I was responsible of the first national assessment of food waste in the retail sector under the project REDUCE; I was the coordinator of the overall LOWINFOOD project; I am currently WP leader in WASTEWISE.PUBLICATIONS I have authored and co-authored over 80 published documents, among papers in journals, conference proceedings and books. My Scopus metrics (on 01-11-2024) are: 42 papers indexed, 1,139 citations, h-index 18. Below is a short list of my top-10 publications: 1. Pietrangeli, R., & Cicatiello, C. (2024).
