THE RIGHT TO ASYLUM AND ITS CRISIS: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS UNDER THE EU PACT

The 2026 ADiM-IntoME Migration Conference will take place from 27 to 29 May 2026 at the University of Tuscia, Viterbo, and will focus on “The Right to Asylum and its Crisis: Challenges and Prospects under the EU Pact”.

The Conference is held at a crucial stage for European migration and asylum law, shortly before the new EU Pact on Migration and Asylum becomes applicable. It will provide an international forum to discuss the transformations affecting the right to asylum, the balance between protection and control, and the institutional, judicial and administrative challenges raised by the Pact’s implementation. The event will bring together scholars, judges, practitioners, policymakers and civil society actors, combining legal, political and interdisciplinary perspectives on the future of asylum and migration governance in Europe.

The Conference is organised by the Academy of Law and Migration (ADiM), in cooperation with the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on the Integration of Migrants in Europe (IntoME) and with the support of the PRIN project on the Legal Pathways for Refugees in the Euro-Mediterranean Context (EuroPathways).
