Questa scuola di formazione affronta il concetto di ‘pianta sentinella’ come strumento fondamentale per la salvaguardia di alberi e foreste urbane da parassiti e patogeni invasivi. Il concetto è definito e spiegato per la sua implementazione nella procedura fitosanitaria EPPO PM 3/91(1) Piante legnose sentinella: concetti e applicazione. Tenuta presso lo splendido Atatürk Arboretum, che ospita centinaia di specie vegetali autoctone e non autoctone, la scuola di formazione offre un’opportunità unica per i partecipanti di esplorare aspetti teorici e pratici delle invasioni biologiche e della biosicurezza nelle foreste urbane. Le attività forniranno ai partecipanti le più recenti tecniche sul monitoraggio di parassiti e patogeni, la diagnostica avanzata, sottolineando l’uso di alberi sentinella nell’arboreto come strumento di biosicurezza in ambito vegetale.

This training school will focus on the sentinel plant concept as a critical tool for safeguarding urban trees and forests from invasive pests and pathogens. The concept is defined and explained for its implementation in the EPPO Phytosanitary procedure PM 3/91(1) Sentinel woody plants: concepts and application. Held at the beautiful Atatürk Arboretum, which hosts hundreds of native and non-native plant species, the program offers a unique opportunity for participants to explore theoretical and practical aspects of invasion biology and biosecurity in urban forests. The training will provide attendees with the latest insights into pest and pathogen monitoring, diagnostics, and biosecurity strategies, emphasizing using sentinel trees in arboreta as a biosecurity tool.
