Viterbo, set in the stunning volcanic landscape of Northern Lazio, is a true testament to Italy’s rich history. It has evolved from its ancient Etruscan roots to become the celebrated “City of Popes” (Città dei Papi), making it a must-visit for history lovers.
The city is a true treasure chest of history, having hosted the first papal conclave in the 13th century, its medieval charm still remains.
The University of Tuscia has been a leading institution since its founding in 1979, and its rich heritage is on full display in its stunning headquarters, the magnificent Santa Maria in Gradi complex. This former Dominican convent, dating back to the Middle Ages, is the perfect setting for learning and growth.
Unitus proudly stands as a bridge between tradition and the frontiers of modern science, hosting the FuseNet PhD Event 2026! This event is a testament to the institution’s dedication to advanced research, particularly in the fascinating fields of nuclear fusion and engineering. This incredible event is set to transform the city of ancient stone into a vibrant hub for the sustainable energy challenges of the future!

The poster session will take place in the beautiful Santa Maria in Gradi university campus, one of the most iconic locations of the University of Tuscia. The complex features two remarkable medieval cloisters, whose spacious and elegantly preserved architecture provides an ideal setting for academic gatherings. The cloisters can comfortably accommodate up to 140 students, creating a unique and inspiring atmosphere for scholarly exchange and informal discussion.

The Keynote lectures and the Pecha Kucha session will be hosted in the old Aula Magna, one of the most significant and representative lecture halls of the University of Tuscia. This prestigious venue, characterized by an elegant architectural design, offers an ideal environment for high-level academic presentations.
Registration for the event will be handled through the FuseNet Indico platform, which will serve as the central hub for all organizational and logistical information. A direct link to the registration page will be made available shortly, allowing participants to complete the process with ease once the platform is open.
All participation costs including accommodation, meals, and local transportation during the event will be fully covered by FuseNet. Participants will only be responsible for arranging and financing their own travel to and from Italy. Additional details regarding deadlines, required documents, and practical instructions will be provided together with the registration link.
To facilitate participants’ arrival, dedicated shuttle buses will be arranged from both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports for international travelers, as well as from Orte train station for those arriving by train. Independent travel to Viterbo via public transportation is also possible, although travel times may be longer and connections less direct.
For this reason, we strongly recommend arriving at Orte train station, which provides rapid links to Rome with frequent services taking approximately 30–40 minutes. From Orte, the organizers will offer dedicated shuttle buses to Viterbo; alternatively, participants may use regular public transport, which departs roughly every hour.
To ensure efficient planning and coordination of shuttle services, please indicate your arrival airport or train station, along with your estimated arrival time, in the registration form.
The list of invited speakers and participating industry partners for the event will be announced in the near future. We are currently finalizing the program and confirming the participation of leading experts and prominent organizations in the field of fusion energy.
Attendees can look forward to a lineup of distinguished speakers who will share cutting-edge research, insights from industry, and perspectives on emerging trends in the discipline. Additional details regarding the confirmed participants will be made available on the event website as soon as they are finalized.
