Domenica 11 maggio alle ore 16.30, presso il Museo della Città e del Territorio di Vetralla, si terrà la conferenza:
“Acqua luogo sacro. Insediamenti religiosi dell’Etruria medievale e il loro rapporto con l’acqua”, un appuntamento dedicato al paesaggio sacro medievale e al rapporto tra religiosità, territorio e risorse naturali, con l’intervento di Beatrice Casocavallo.
Nel corso dell’incontro saranno presentati alcuni insediamenti religiosi rupestri dell’Etruria costiera e interna che mostrano un legame diretto con la presenza dell’acqua, elemento non solo funzionale ma spesso oggetto di culto.
In alcuni contesti, l’acqua assume un significato rituale e simbolico, legato alla guarigione e alla purificazione.
Lo studio propone una riflessione sulla continuità tra pratiche religiose etrusche e cristiane: in diversi casi, luoghi pagani già riconosciuti come sacri vengono riconsacrati in epoca cristiana.
Un esempio emblematico è il sito rupestre di San Savino a Tarquinia, dove l’aula di culto viene dedicata alla martire africana Santa Restituta, sovrapponendo nuovi culti a tradizioni più antiche.
Relatrice: Beatrice Casocavallo, Funzionario Archeologo presso il Ministero della Cultura, è in servizio presso la Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio per la provincia di Viterbo e per l’Etruria meridionale.
Laureata in Lettere Classiche e specializzata in Archeologia tardoantica e altomedievale presso l’Università “La Sapienza” di Roma, ha preso parte a progetti di ricerca e attività didattiche presso le Università “La Sapienza” e della Tuscia, collaborando a scavi come quello dell’insediamento rupestre di Santa Restituta a Tarquinia.
