Seminars by Professor Beatriz Agueda Hernandez from the University of Valladolid

2 Aprile 2025 / 4 Aprile 2025

We are delighted to welcome Professor Beatriz Agueda Hernandez from the University of Valladolid (UVA – BEATRIZ AGUEDA HERNANDEZ – Universidad de Valladolid) to our campus next week. Professor Agueda will be presenting two seminars specifically designed for Master and PhD students.

Professor Agueda’s research expertise spans biomass, agricultural crops, and phytopathology, with a particular focus on edible mushroom production (including Boletus, Lactarius, and black truffle) and the use of remote sensing data for yield prediction. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain insights from an internationally recognized researcher in these fields.

These seminars offer a unique platform for learning and engaging in stimulating discussions. We strongly encourage all Master and PhD students to attend!

The seminars are scheduled for the following dates:

Wednesday, April 2nd, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM  Location AULA 17 or https://unitus.zoom.us/j/85157513370

This seminar provides an introduction to how remote sensing can be used to monitor Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) and related ecosystem services. Using practical examples, we will explore how satellite data and spatial tools help identify productive areas, assess seasonal patterns, and support sustainable forest management. The session includes a short group discussion to apply these ideas to different regional contexts.

Friday, April 4th, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM,  Location AULA 17 or https://unitus.zoom.us/j/84718097020

This seminar explores how remote sensing technologies can be applied to monitor and assess wild edible mushroom yields in forest ecosystems. Through a combination of theoretical concepts, case studies and practical examples, we will examine how satellite data, LiDAR and drones can help model the environmental conditions that influence fungal productivity. We will discuss the opportunities and challenges of using these tools to support sustainable forest management, rural development and non-wood forest product planning, with a particular focus on Mediterranean and temperate forests.
