ENGINEERIG FOR ENERGY AN ENVIRONMENT

NOTICE

Please be informed that, in Annex 3 to Minutes No. 3, concerning the results of the oral examination (Curriculum “Energy and engineering systems” ), the Selection Committee reported, for most candidates who took the examination, the combined scores for the assessment of qualifications and the oral examination, rather than the scores for the oral examination alone. This was a clerical error.
The PhD Office has asked the Selection Committee to correct the annex so that it shows only the oral examination scores. The corrected Annex 3 will be published shortly.

How to enrol in the first year of a PhD programme

Guide to enrolling in a PhD programme

Monthly PhD scholarship payments can be made only to an Italian bank or postal account, or to a rechargeable prepaid card, that:

• is issued by an Italian bank or postal institution;
• is held in the student’s name;
• has an IBAN.

The following documents are usually required to open an account:

• a residence permit, or proof that you have applied for one;
• a passport and a photocopy of it;
• an Italian tax identification number (codice fiscale);
• a photocopy of the PhD admission letter.

The IBAN of the account or prepaid card must be provided on the PhD scholarship payment form.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

To enrol at the University of Tuscia, non-EU citizens who require a visa should contact the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence to apply for a study visa.

Applicants admitted to the PhD programme must register on the Universitaly portal Universitaly portal and submit their online pre-enrolment application without delay (Click on “Start your online pre-enrolment application”), to allow sufficient time for the visa application process.

The University of Tuscia will review the application and forward it to the Italian Embassy or Consulate selected on the portal. Admission to the PhD programme does not, by itself, guarantee that a visa will be issued.

Please do not travel to Italy on a tourist visa for the purpose of enrolling in the programme.

If you experience difficulties obtaining a visa or expect your arrival to be delayed, please inform the PhD Office at dottorati@unitus.it.

The codice fiscale identifies individuals in their dealings with public authorities and private organisations in Italy. You need it to enrol at the University and for activities such as opening a bank or postal account and registering with the Italian National Health Service. It is issued free of charge. To provide your codice fiscale to the University, the certificate confirming its assignment is sufficient: you do not need to wait for the physical card.

If you are still abroad, you can apply for a codice fiscale through the Italian Embassy or Consulate responsible for your place of residence. Check its website for application instructions. Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

If you are already in Italy:

• If you are an EU citizen, you can apply at an office of the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) by presenting form AA4/8 and a valid identity document.
• If you are a non-EU citizen and will stay in Italy for study purposes for more than 90 days, your codice fiscale will be assigned by the Questura (Police Headquarters) as part of the residence permit application process.

The Questura is at Via Maresciallo Mariano Romiti 80. If you have already applied for a residence permit but have not received your codice fiscale, contact this office.

University offices will assist students in obtaining their codice fiscale.

Once you have obtained your codice fiscale, provide it to the University.

Within eight working days of arriving in Italy on a type D national visa for study (university enrolment), students must apply for a residence permit for study purposes from the Questura (Police Headquarters) responsible for the area where they intend to live.

The application must be submitted at an authorised post office using the application kit available there. Students must present an identity document and pay the applicable fees.

When submitting the application, students will receive a receipt and a notice stating when they must attend an appointment at the Questura. They must bring the required photographs to that appointment, where their photograph and fingerprints will be taken. If further documents are needed, they will be notified by text message or registered post.

The receipt issued by the post office confirms that the residence permit application has been submitted and serves as proof of lawful stay in Italy while the application is being processed.

The International Students Desk, located at the Student Office (Segreteria Studenti), provides assistance with completing the residence permit application to be submitted to the Questura through the post office.

Students from countries outside the European Union must have health insurance valid in Italy. They can take out private health insurance or, if eligible, register voluntarily with the Italian National Health Service (SSN). SSN registration allows students to choose a general practitioner and access healthcare services under SSN rules.

The annual contribution for students is €700, payable using an F24 payment form or a postal payment slip made out to “Amministrazione P.T. – contributo Servizio Sanitario Nazionale”, postal account no. 370007, with “Iscrizione volontaria al Servizio Sanitario Nazionale” stated as the reason for payment. Registration is valid until 31 December of the year in which it is completed.

To register, contact the local health authority (ASL) district office responsible for your place of residence or where you actually live. Bring:

• the original receipt for the €700 payment, made using an F24 form or postal payment slip;
• your passport;
• your residence permit or, if it has not yet been issued, the receipt confirming that you have applied for it;
• your Italian tax identification number (codice fiscale);
• a self-declaration of residence or a statement of where you actually live;
• a certificate of enrolment in the PhD programme issued by the University, or a self-declaration confirming your enrolment.
