ABSTRACT

The main aim of the project is to contribute, through a demonstration prototype, to the regional diffusion, in rural areas, of naturalized envelopes in order to cancel visual impacts and promote carbon sequestration in the agricultural field. The prototype of vegetal cover that will be tested will take into account the state of the art, the technological solutions currently available on the market and will try to define, with the support of experimental data, clear performance boundaries in terms of microclimatic control of the built environment for the aforementioned technologies. The testing of vegetal covers in the agricultural field to cancel the impact of unsightly structures that cannot be demolished is certainly an important innovation in Tuscany. Currently there are no examples of covers used for this purpose in the rural field. The only examples in the agricultural field are some covers used for the design of ultramodern cellars designed by famous architects. The possibility of using plant cover models specifically designed and tested for the rural world makes the project very current and addresses a problem felt by some farmers, who in Tuscany are increasingly attentive to the landscape, and in particular those who practice agritourism. In farms, there are often service structures, aesthetically unappealing, that cannot be demolished for aesthetic reasons alone, both for the cost and because they often perform important functions. Having the possibility of camouflaging their impact, with plant covers that also perform other positive functions is a result of no small importance.
