Pietro Giulio Riga is Researcher in Italian Literature at the University of Tuscia. He has written books and essays on various authors and issues of literary history from the 16th to the 18th century, focusing in particular on the genres of lyric poetry and epistolography in the 16th century, on the southern 17th century, on the relations between politics, diplomacy and literature in the 18th century, and on ecphrastic poetry. He has edited and studied Giovan Battista Manso, Giovan Battista Marino and Pietro Metastasio and the seventeenth-century fortune of the poetry of Giovanni Della Casa and Torquato Tasso.
