Spring DEBates 2026: the fifth edition of DEB’s historic seminar series is renewed, ready to offer you stimulating sessions and outstanding speakersSince 2022, every spring the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) has offered a seminar series focused on scientific dialogue. This year, the Spring DEBates return in a completely renewed format: national and international professors and researchers will share their work, ideas, and perspectives on the most current scientific issues. The series, coordinated by Prof. Giovanni Polverino, is part of the training activities of the PhD program in “Ecology and Sustainable Management of Environmental Resources,” but participation is open to everyone. It consists of eight independent talks and will begin on February 19, concluding on May 28. The seminars will be held in a hybrid format (in-person, at the DEB classrooms, and/or online via live Zoom streaming) on a biweekly basis, on Thursday afternoons. The fifth edition will be inaugurated by Prof. Nicolò Colombani, Associate Professor at the Department of Sciences and Engineering of Matter, Environment, and Urban Planning at the Polytechnic University of Marche, with a talk titled “Salinity origins and patterns in shallow groundwater bodies of the Po River lowland.” All PhD students in Ecology and Sustainable Management of Environmental Resources will earn 1 ECTS credit upon attending all the seminars. Participation does not require registration: links for online seminars will be published on the DEB website and social media channels one week before each event. The full seminar program can be consulted here.Since 2022, every spring the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) has offered a seminar series focused on scientific dialogue.
