ABSTRACT
The project involves the creation of an ex situ collection, specifically an in vitro collection, for conservation and experimental purposes of certain fruit biodiversity species from Lazio, which have been under conservation for over 15 years in an ex situ collection at the University of Tuscia. The setup of aseptic cultures and micropropagation of accessions obtained from collections within the University of Tuscia in situ collections. Apical and axillary buds will be sampled (harvested at various times of the year) and destined for in vitro culture setup trials, aiming to produce enough propagation material quickly for in vitro multiplication and conservation, optimizing growth substrates according to the needs of different accessions. Suitable protocols for in vitro conservation (under ordinary conditions or slow growth) will be studied, providing an important alternative for the conservation of resources that cannot be conserved as seeds. The study of such protocols will enable the preservation of genetic heritage in reduced spaces and at significantly lower costs compared to field collections
