Cultural mediator

The University of Tuscia recognizes and values cultural diversity as a fundamental resource for the growth and enrichment of the academic community. For this reason, in the academic year 2024–2025, a linguistic and cultural mediation service has been activated to support students from diverse international backgrounds, with the aim of facilitating communication and promoting integration.

  • Linguistic and cultural mediation activities: what are they?

    Linguistic Mediation

    • Assistance with the translation and interpretation of communications, documents, and administrative procedures.
    • Language support for orientation and access to university and local services.

     

    Cultural Mediation:

    • Intercultural counseling for students.
    • Organization of intercultural activities.
    • Support in managing cultural differences in the academic environment.
    • Information on Italian customs and traditions.

  • Objectives

    Breaking down linguistic and cultural barriers.

    Promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment.

    Supporting the integration of international students.

    Facilitating communication among the different members of the university community.

    Enhancing intercultural skills.

  • Services Offered

    Linguistic and Cultural Mediation, aimed at supporting the integration of international students by providing assistance in legal, educational, healthcare, and other everyday life situations.

    Territorial Orientation Activities, designed to guide and support the international student community in getting to know and connecting with local integration and support services.

    Support in Territorial Orientation Activities, with the goal of accompanying and assisting international students in navigating their new environment.

    Collaboration with the Inclusion Committee for initiatives supporting international students with disabilities, Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or other types of needs or vulnerabilities.

    • International students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Single-Cycle degree programs

    • Erasmus+ students and participants in international mobility programs

    • Double degree students or those enrolled in joint programs between universities in different countries

    • PhD candidates and international researchers involved in academic or scientific projects

    • Faculty members and visiting professors participating in academic exchange programs

    You can request the linguistic and cultural mediation service by filling out the following form.

    Once the request has been submitted, the Cultural Mediator will contact you regarding the requested service.
