Giovanni Palilla earned his PhD in German Language and Linguistics in 2021 from the University of Florence, within the joint Florence-Bonn doctoral programme, with a dissertation on the semantics of the connective aber. From 2021 to 2023, he taught as a lecturer of Italian at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. In 2024, he was a postdoc student at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where he took part in the project “Rethinking, Understanding Modal Particles”. Since 2025, he has been Research Assistant on a tenure-track position at DISTU, University of Tuscia. His research interests include the semantics of connectives, adversativity and concessivity, translation and diatopic variation, and modal particles.
